In General was forced to put Grodd in a medically-induced coma to prevent him from becoming a danger again in the future. Though it was removed, its impact on Grodd continued, expanding the power of his telepathy. Unfortunately, Grodd's use of the device had a serious side effect. King Shark emerged victorious and plucked the device off of Grodd's forehead, placing it back on his own head to communicate with Tanya. They careened all over Central City center, until they hashed it out once-and-for-all on the streets. He immediately pursued Gorilla Grodd, and the two came to blows as Flash and XS lay paralyzed by Grodd's telepathy. With that, Shay allowed himself to become King Shark once more. Since his metahuman form is part-animal, Grodd cannot use telepathy on him, leaving him immune to Grodd's best weapon. ![]() As they struggled to figure out a way to stop Grodd without falling under his control, Shay volunteered to revert to King Shark and battle Grodd. As the STAR Labs team debated over their next course of action, Gorilla Grodd broke into the facility to use Lamden's neural device in the hopes it could boost his telepathy.
